The USMNT representation in England continues to grow: Fulham host Leeds United in the FA Cup and up to five players from the US squad could be on the pitch at once. Tim Ream and Antonee Robinson are both in line to start for Fulham, while Brenden Aaronson, Weston McKennie and USMNT captain at the World Cup, Tyler Adams, could feature for Leeds United.

The match is the Fifth Round of the FA Cup, football’s oldest competition, with a place for the Quarter Finals up for grabs. Fulham beat Sunderland 2-3 in a replay at the Stadium of Light after a 1-1 draw with them at Craven Cottage. Leeds United beat Accrington Stanley 1-3 to put them into the Fifth Round. Leeds have won the FA Cup just once, in 1972, when they beat Arsenal 1-0.

USMNT players building on a positive relationship

Leeds midfielder Tyler Adams led the USMNT to a memorable World Cup campaign in Qatar, in which he partnered Weston McKennie and Valencia midfielder Yunus Musah to the Round of 16, where they lost 3-1 to eventual quarter-finalists, The Netherlands.

Fulham sit just outside the European places in the league, having taken advantage of poor seasons from both Liverpool and Chelsea; Leeds, on the other hand, are struggling at the bottom of the league and moved out of the relegation zone last week with a 1-0 win over Southampton, their first three points since November 2022.

When did Leeds and Fuham last make it to the FA Cup quarter-finals?

The last time Leeds United made it into the FA Cup quarter-final was way back in 2002. As for Fulham, they last reached the quarter-final stage in the 2009-10 season, where they were knocked out by Spurs 3-1 in a replay after a 0-0 draw at home. Curiously, Spurs knocked Leeds out of the previous round to set up the clash with their London rivals.
