After having performed outstandingly well in Mexican football, centre-back César Montes was able to make the leap to the European game to play for Espanyol in LaLiga Santander. And now, after also showing a good level of performance in the Spanish league, the Mexican defender has already raised the eyebrows of several clubs in the Premier League.

According to La Gradad de España, three English league clubs are closely following the Mexican in order to sign him in the upcoming summer market: Wolverhampton, Nottingham Forest plus another unrevealed club are said to be on the list of potential suitors.

The same source revealed that there is nothing concrete in terms of a deal, but that both English clubs have already approached the Spanish side to enquire about the World Cup player in Qatar 2022.

Nottingham Forest is an English club with a rich history, having won the UEFA European Cup (now the Champions League), but they are currently less than 5 points off the relegation zone in the Premier League. The same goes for Wolves, who have struggled this season and currently sit in the bottom half of the league as they continue their fight to stay in the top division.

How much would César Montes’ transfer cost?

For now, César Montes has a release clause of €30 million, which is equivalent to $32 million and also has a contract until the summer of 2028. The club that want the Mexican, therefore, would be obliged to pay a large amount of money to secure the signing of the national team player.

Due to his consistent performances, the player is sure to be considered by Diego Martín Cocca for the Mexican National Team; this year the side will play in both the Cup Gold and the Concacaf Nations League.
