Alexander-Arnold’s first Instagram post at Real Madrid: a twist of fate
The full-back's first Instagram photo was from a training session at the Santiago Bernabéu 11 years ago. Now he's close to becoming a Real Madrid player.

It was November 2014. Trent Alexander-Arnold had barely turned 16, but the future star of Liverpool at right full-back was already traveling with the first team to some Champions League matches. In the group stage of the 2014/15 season, The Reds faced Real Madrid and Trent was there at the training camp in the Spanish capital.
Trent welcomed to the Bernabéu
It was then that Trent stepped on the Santiago Bernabéu turf for the first time and didn’t hesitate to upload a photo to Instagram alongside Raheem Sterling and Rickie Lambert at the Castellana stadium. That was Alexander-Arnold’s first post on the social media network. The description, as brief as it was premonitory: “Training at the Bernabeu ⚽️🙌”

Ten years later, Alexander-Arnold appears to be preparing to sign for Real Madrid, in what will be his first professional experience outside of Liverpool, the team where he developed. And he’s managed it so that he leaves for free, his boyhood club getting no fee in return.
Los Blancos’ objective is for him to play in the Club World Cup as a Real Madrid player, but to do so they need LaLiga to open a transfer window prior to the start of the tournament and for the Reds to release the player from the contract that binds them, in theory, until July 1.
