Update:

Real Madrid’s starting XI has been revealed by the club ahead of their do-or-die game against FC Bayern in the UEFA Champions League quarter-final second leg.

Manager Álvaro Arbeloa told us he knew his starting team over 24 hours before the game, and he has not disappointed, with huge names selected in a game that is simply must-win for Los Blancos.

The big question was how Arbeloa was going to replace the absence of Aurelien Tchouaméni, who is suspended due to an accumulation of yellow cards. Instead of the Frenchman, the manager has selected Bellingham and moved Valverde inside from his usual right-wing position.

Brahim plays on the right, with Arda on the left. Vini Jr and Mbappé are up front.

Real Madrid confirmed starting XI against Bayern:

In summary, the starting eleven Álvaro Arbeloa will field in an attempt to turn the tie around in Munich is: Lunin; Trent, Militão, Rüdiger, Mendy; Güler, Brahim, Valverde, Bellingham; Mbappé and Vini Jr.

Arbeloa has taken 24 players to Munich, although it is already known who will be watching from the stands: Tchouaméni, who has travelled to support the team. The rest of the squad includes Fran González, Javi Navarro; Carvajal, Alaba, Carreras, Fran García, Camavinga, Ceballos, Brahim, Mastantuono and Gonzalo.

Real Madrid will be without the injured Courtois and Rodrygo. Asensio is also unavailable due to gastroenteritis, while Tchouaméni is suspended.

Several Real Madrid players are one yellow card away from suspension: Mbappé, Vinícius, Bellingham, Huijsen and Carreras. If they are booked and Real Madrid progress, they would miss the first leg of the semi-final. For Bayern Munich, Neuer, Upamecano, Tah, Laimer and their coach, Vincent Kompany, are also at risk of suspension. This is a crucial factor, as yellow card accumulations are cleared once the semi-finals are reached. Players who avoid a booking in this match and advance will no longer be at risk.
