Alexia ruled out as Montjuic sells out for El Clásico Femenino
The Catalan club anticipate a crowd of 40,000 spectators for Sunday’s Liga F Clasico as Barcelona face Real Madrid at the Estadio Lluis Companys in Montjuic.
The Barça and Real Madrid women’s teams will meet at the Lluís Companys stadium in Montjuïc on Sunday. Over the years, the game is becoming more competitive as the side from the Spanish capital close the gap on the all-conquering FC Barcelona Femeni team.
The Catalan club are delighted with the response from the home fans with 40,000 spectators expected to make the journey up to Montjuic. “The attendance figure will be very good, a little lower than what saw when the men’s team played but there will be a decent crowd watching,” confessed the Catalan club.
No Alexia
Alexia Putellas, Barcelona’s star player and top scorer in the ‘Clasicos’ against Real Madrid, will not be able to play this Sunday at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys. The double Ballon d’Or winner, who suffered a knee problem on Tuesday against Benfica in the Champions League failed to train on Saturday and will play no role for Barça having been excluded from Jonatan Giráldez’s squad.
Irene Paredes is another absentee for the Catalan side with the defender suffering from tonsillitis. Barça Femeni have flown out of the traps in the 2023-24 Liga F season having recorded eight wins form eight games. The current European champions have bagged 34 and only conceded two in the eight games.
