América and Monterrey remain at the top of the general table with only three games to play in the final stretch of the campaign.

The Liga MX continues its final stretch and for another week, both Club America and Monterrey continue to dominate at the top of the table with both sides on the cusp of mathematically confirming their place in the final of the playoffs. The other two spaces in the top four that provide access to the playoff finals and mean avoiding the complicating ‘liguilla’ look set to be a battle between Pachuca, Santos Laguna and Tigres. The battle to also grab a place in the top 12 and keep the season alive also looks like going to the wire with just four points separating San Luis in eighth and Pumas in 15th place.

For the third consecutive week both América and Monterrey remain at the top of the table with both sides recording slender wins over the weekend with ‘Las Aguilas’ equalling a club record as they recorded their ninth consecutive win of the campaign and are certainly the form team in Mexico.

Los Rayados from Monterrey too were made to work hard for their win with a lone Jesus Gallardo goal enough to secure maximum points in their game away to Juarez.

At the wrong end of the table, reigning champions Atlas continue to flounder and the side from Guadalajara have only racked up 10 points all season and are on the cusp of not advancing to the post-season period. One side that will not be challenging for the Apertura title are Querétaro, with the ‘Gallos Blancos’ the only team with no mathematical chance of making the ‘liguilla’.
