Dembélé turns to Gavi’s viral quote moments after PSG reached the final
“A lot of people think I don’t know how to play soccer… They don’t have a fucking clue. It’s the truth, but it’s understandable. In the end, it’s soccer and everyone thinks what they want.”
Gavi said this a few weeks ago ahead of Barcelona’s Champions League game against Dortmund. The midfielder from Seville made this statement and it quickly spread around the world.
Gavi’s words resurface for Dembélé
Now those words have taken on new meaning with PSG’s run to the final. Ousmane Dembélé shared that clip to answer his critics, posting the video of his friend Gavi on social media just minutes after the Parisian side secured their ticket to the Budapest final. The timing raised eyebrows.
The French forward’s first public reaction after the game was to share Gavi’s words, a reflection of the strong bond between the two from their days fighting to break into Barcelona’s first team. He later posted images of the celebrations inside the PSG locker room, surrounded by teammates.
He looks joyful, glowing – and for good reason. The France international is living a dream at PSG. He lifted the Champions League a year ago under Luis Enrique, placing him at the pinnacle of the game. He went on to win the 2025 Ballon d’Or. Now he is back in another final, playing a decisive role with three goals and an assist in the semifinal against Bayern. He is widely regarded as one of the defining figures of this historic PSG side.
