After more than three weeks without a coach, América appear to have found someone to lead the team in the Apertura 2023. André Jardiné looks set to be the Águilas’ new DT. The Brazilian, who spent the past year on board at Atlético San Luis, has convinced the Azulcrema board.

According to various reports, Jardiné will be the one to occupy the position of coach in the Coapa team, this after the departure of Tano Ortiz, who was in charge for a little less than three tournaments. Although there is still no official word from the club, the arrival of the South American technical director to the El Nido could take place between Thursday and Friday. Just a few hours ago, sports director Santiago Baños told TUDN that the process to find a new coach was at an advanced stage.

Jardine’s process with San Luis

André Jardiné has attracted interest from a number of clubs for the excellent results he achieved with the San Luis Potosinos during the last two campaigns.

Despite having a limited squad to work with, he managed to guide the team to the quarter finals in both tournaments. In the most recent, the Clausura 2023, ‘Atleti’ came close to eliminating América at the Azteca, losing the tie 4-3 on aggregate.
