Ángel Correa staying put at Tigres despite rumors linking him to River Plate

In an interview with AS Mexico, Carlos Emilio González confirmed Pedro Losa as coach of the “Amazonas,” and the imminent stay of Emma Watson.

Monterrey, Nuevo León Update:

Ángel Correa’s future isn’t shifting away from Tigres anytime soon — despite a wave of rumors tying him to River Plate. In a conversation with AS México, Tigres’ new president, Carlos Emilio González, made it clear the World Cup champion is staying right where he is. Correa and his family are happy in Monterrey, and the club sees him as a cornerstone of its next great era.

Regarding Ángel, we haven’t received anything. And if we paid attention to every rumor on social media, forget it — we’d be left without a team,” González said. “Correa is essential, part of the backbone of this squad. You can feel it when he’s on the field. He’s different. He surprises us, motivates us, and it’s a joy to watch him play.

“For us, Ángel is fundamental to our future. He still has so much to give. We know he’s happy, his family is happy in Monterrey, and the only plan is to keep him here,” he added.

River Plate’s top executive, Stefano Di Carlo, recently went public with his interest in Correa as part of the club’s rebuild. But even if a strong offer comes in, Tigres is expected to shut it down immediately.

Losa Staying With Tigres Femenil — and Emma Watson Likely Extending Her Loan

There’s movement on the women’s side as well. González confirmed that Tigres Femenil head coach Pedro Losa will remain in charge. While the Spanish manager hasn’t won over the fanbase, the front office believes he has the ability to elevate the team. Despite two historic quarterfinal exits, he already delivered a Liga MX Femenil title and is now chasing the Campeón de Campeonas trophy.

Pedro, just like Guido, has our full support,” González said. “We’re all judged by results — them, me, Torrado, Valenzuela. As long as we see the team trending upward, we’re on the right path. If that changes, we’ll make decisions. But for now, both have our full backing. We want them to improve, show us their plans, and we’ll see how things go in the coming seasons.”

As for Emma Watson, all signs point to her staying with the Amazonas. The midfielder is on a one‑year loan from Manchester United and has spent six months in Monterrey, where she’s thriving.

My understanding is Emma still has time left on her loan with us,” González explained. “We love her she’s a great player and a great person. She’s enjoying herself here, she’s growing, she’s maturing. We need to talk with her about what she wants, but we’d love to keep her.”
