Update:

Liverpool go into match day 36 of the Premier League season with a home game against mid-table side Chelsea, with Champions League qualification on their minds.

After a topsy-turvy campaign and a recent loss to Manchester United, Arne Slot has righted the ship that appears to have done just enough to seal a place in Europe’s elite competition for next season. They have suffered through various dips in form, injury setbacks, and off-field incidents that have all combined together to make a title defence an impossibility.

Remembering back to the beginning of the season, hope was the word. Liverpool spent big on bringing in Alexander Isak from Newcastle, a player who had shown himself to be a hugely talented striker, coming close to Erling Haaland in terms of numbers. However, injuries have seen his season hampered, and he has only managed only 3 goals across 13 league games this season.

“Let’s see how much we’re going to use him tomorrow”

But he appears on the mend. When asked about hit fitness during the pre-Chelsea press conference, Slot said: “Alex trains with us again. Only yesterday for the first time. So that’s a positive, let’s see. Yesterday he did parts of it, so hopefully he can do parts or everything today and then let’s see how much we’re going to use him tomorrow.”

First-choice goalkeeper Alisson is not yet training with the team, but is “very close”, according to Slot. Added to Alisson’s recovery is that of Mohamed Salah, about whom Slot said he “also doesn’t train with us yet but is also, like Ali, getting very, very, very close.”

The manager also confirmed that Mamardashvili may make the squad, while Konate and Wirtz are likely to feature.

Hugo Ekitike (Achilles),Giovanni Leoni (ACL),Conor Bradley (knee),Wataru Endo (foot), Jayden Danns (hamstring) and Stefan Bajcetic (hamstring) are all out.
