Arne Slot one win away from Liverpool history ahead of Galatasaray clash
Liverpool boss Slot brings up his 100th game in charge in the Champions League with a chance to enter the club’s record books.

Liverpool manager Arne Slot takes charge of the club for the 100th time on Tuesday when the Reds visit Galatasaray in the 2025-26 Champions League round of 16. And if Liverpool win in Istanbul, the Dutchman will set a new club record ahead of legendary figures such as Kenny Dalglish, Bill Shankly and Bob Paisley.
Since arriving at Anfield in the summer of 2024, Slot has won 62 of his 99 games in the dugout. If the former Feyenoord manager reaches 63 victories, he will become the Liverpool manager with the most wins in his first 100 games, surpassing Dalglish’s current record of 62.
Arne Slot will reach a century of matches as Liverpool head coach when the Reds face Galatasaray on Tuesday evening.

Closing in on Dalglish
After joining Liverpool as a player in 1977, Dalglish became player-manager eight years later, a role he held until 1990. The Scot remained in charge the following season but resigned in February 1991.
In addition to winning a host of honors as a player for the Reds, Dalglish was also hugely successful on the touchline. He led Liverpool to three league titles and two FA Cups, and later returned to lift the League Cup during a brief second spell in the early 2010s.
Pressure in Slot’s second season
Despite winning the Premier League in his first season in charge, Slot has come under pressure during a disappointing second campaign.
After starting the 2025-26 season with five straight league victories, Liverpool endured several poor runs of form. The slump has seen them drop to sixth place in the standings, 19 points behind leaders Arsenal.
A record within reach
Yet Slot could still finish the season with two more trophies, the Champions League and the FA Cup. And if his team wins in Istanbul, he could also become a Liverpool record holder within hours.
