Barcelona in shock over extreme heat in Las Vegas as they prepare to face Real Madrid
The Barça players were stunned by the heat on their tour, with the mercury over 110 degrees. The club moved training in response.
“This is unbearable”, was how a Barcelona staff member reacted when he was hit by a blast of hot air as he stepped out of the white van that took them from the Las Vegas airport to the Palms Casino Resort hotel. And you couldn’t say he was wrong, with the temperature at 110 degrees. The situation was so extreme that several of the cameras and mobile phones of the journalists covering the event stopped working due to overheating.
Barcelona move training to cope with the heat
The situation is so critical that the coaches decided to delay training, aware that it is dangerous to exercise in these conditions: at 7:00 p.m. the expected temperature is just over 100. It doesn’t actually improve much by 8:00 p.m., although at least it is expected to have dropped under 100.
Evidently, these conditions are absolutely inappropriate for playing sport. In fact Barcelona are looking at the possibility of finding an area with air conditioning in order to be able to train in the coming days before the match against their eternal rivals.
At least that match against Real Madrid will be played in a stadium, the Allegiant, which can be closed and avoid high temperatures thanks to its spectacular air conditioning system.
