There is growing uncertainty at Bayern Munich over the future of Alphonso Davies. The Canada international has long been considering an offer from the German champions to renew his contract beyond 2025, something that, according to numerous German media reports, almost happened before the club decided to sack sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic. Now, Davies no longer seems so sure he wants to stay at Bayern and one of the main reasons would be Real Madrid.

The left-back has long been on the radar of the Spanish side, who are keeping a close eye on him and are considering a move for him next summer, when, with just a year left on his contract, they could snap him up for a lower fee.

There is also the Ferland Mendy factor. The left-back could leave this summer for Saudi Arabia which would accelerate Madrid’s search for another left-back. According to Bild, Bayern want to do everything possible to ensure that Davies renews his contract.

Davies’ agent speaks out

Meanwhile, his agent Nedal Huoseh made it clear that his client wants to be cautious after a turbulent few months at the club following the sackings of Salihamidzic, CEO Oliver Kahn and coach Julian Nagelsmann in the wake of a season that fell far short of expectations. “There seems to be too much instability and uncertainty about the direction of the club. Maybe it is better to wait until 2024 and see how things evolve with the club before moving on to a new contract,” he said.
