Bayern’s talisman Harry Kane breaks silence on Camp Nou rumors
The Bayern striker was asked about Vilajoana’s words and spoke about his situation with the Bundesliga champions.
Harry Kane was once again Bayern Munich’s leading man in a 3–2 win over Eintracht Frankfurt, scoring twice to extend his remarkable run in front of goal this season. With 28 goals in 23 games, the England striker has his sights set on surpassing Robert Lewandowski’s historic mark of 41 goals in 2020–21.
After the game, Kane addressed speculation linking him with Barcelona. “I haven’t heard anything. Of course, my dad and my brother handle those matters, so I don’t know if they’ve heard something. But they haven’t told me anything. I’m enjoying being out here on the field and I’m very happy at Bayern. My focus is on this season and here at Bayern,” he said, making clear he has no plans to leave.
The controversy arose after Xavi Vilajoana, a candidate for Barcelona’s presidency, claimed during a campaign event that he had contacted Kane’s representatives to gauge his interest in a potential move to the Catalan club. Vilajoana said: “We must act with caution and professionalism. We are evaluating different profiles, and Kane is one of them. He’s a goalscorer, a team player and a killer in tight spaces, qualities Barça need.”
Joan Laporta, the favorite to regain the presidency on March 15, took a more measured tone. “We are focused on the club’s long-term planning and on strengthening the squad with clear sporting criteria. Kane is a great player, but our priority is to maintain a solid and competitive team,” he said.
Kane, who joined Bayern in 2023 for around $108 million and is under contract through 2027, allowed his $70 million release clause to expire at the end of January, reinforcing his commitment to the club. The striker has also repeatedly stressed how comfortable he feels in Munich with his wife, Katie, and their four children, making a departure unlikely.
