Gio Reyna is having a very complicated campaign due to injuries and experienced another setback on Friday night. The United States international left the pitch in tears after again suffering from a hamstring injury during the Bundesliga clash between Borussia Dortmund and VfB Stuttgart.

Reyna expected to miss Dortmund’s final five games

Less than two minutes in, the 19-year-old was subbed off with what appears to be the same hamstring injury that kept him out for five months earlier this season. It has not been confirmed how long Reyna will be out, but the midfielder took to social media to send a message regarding his latest injury.

Difficult roads often lead to beautiful destinations. Hard work to put into words the way I feel right now. Thank you for all the support! I’ll be back and better than ever,” Reyna wrote.

The teenager is expected to miss the rest of the season with Dortmund because after he underwent medical examination the doctors confirmed that the injury is more serious than they initially thought. This means that Reyna will miss the remaining five games that are left in the Bundesliga campaign.
