Chants of ‘Fuck Messi’ as Argentina and Mexico fans fight in Doha
Argentina and Mexico fans are without doubt the most numerous in the streets of Doha with a brief fight breaking out on Wednesday night.
Sky blue and white clad Argentina fans along with green shirted fans are one of the most dominant sights in the Corniche area and FIFA Fanzone at Al Bidda Park in Doha with the general atmosphere to date in the Qatari capital one of good nature as fans from all nations freely mingle together.
Tensions did reach boiling point however on Wednesday, when in an isolated incident Mexican fans and Argentine fans came to blows with both teams set to play in a huge Group C clash on Saturday.
The unsavoury scenes were captured by Mexican journalist Omar Niño as a handful of Mexico and Argentine fans exchanged blows with chants of ‘Fuck Messi’ as the outnumbered Argentina fans leave the scene.
Niño later reported that a few individuals needed to be treated for minor injuries after the incident.
