Chelsea’s loss to Manchester United only added fuel to an already raging fire at Stamford Bridge. Supporters have been growing increasingly impatient with the results, the squad, the coaches and most importantly the owners.

Sister club supporters unite

Before Saturday’s match Chelsea and RC Strasbourg fans united in their discontent with the owners of the clubs, BlueCo. The French side is the sister club of Chelsea and they share the sentiments of Blues fans who have had enough of the ownership group that took control of the two clubs in 2022 and 2023.

A protest was organized by both clubs, joining forces demonstrate their dismay with the state of both clubs. the Strasbourg are currently sitting 8th in Ligue 1, and have suffered since losing their manager Liam Rosenior to their sister club after Chelsea sacked Enzo Maresca at the beginning of this calendar year. Chelsea’s loss to Manchester United means they are 10 points behind the Red Devils in the third spot, and more importantly four points behind Liverpool in the fifth and final Champions League spot.

The foreign ownership group has been heavily criticized for running the club like a business, and not prioritizing results. Since the take over, the Blues have made the top four just once, and look like they might be coming up short of their goal yet again.

BlueCo out is the message

David Cook was the organizer of the march, and did not mince his words when it came to BlueCo. “The protest march alongside fans of RC Strasbourg is promoting a single, unified message: Blueco out. In the four seasons Blueco have been in charge of this once great club, we have seen an erosion of the mentality and values that made it successful at the elite level. This is not about entitlement; this is about standards. Blueco have continuously proven themselves to be unworthy custodians of the club through terrible mismanagement that has made our future as a club look very precarious,” he stated, according to the Mirror.

Chelsea are dangerously close to losing out on Champions League position, which could lead to a mass exodus this summer. Enzo Martinez is reportedly on his way out, and Cole Palmer could be following the Argentine to the exit ramp if the Blues fail to make it to the Champions League next year.

Meanwhile Liam Rosenior, who was supposed to be BlueCo’s savior for the season did not seem too convinced about keeping his job for another year following Chelsea’s most recent loss. When asked if he thinks he will be back should Chelsea finish outside the top five, he responded . “The honest answer is I don’t know,” Rosenior said in his post-match press conference. “The honest answer is we’re still fighting and we will address that situation at the end of the season, whatever the situation is.”
