Chicharito silences San Jose Earthquakes fans with a brace

The Los Angeles Galaxy defeated the Earthquakes 3-2 in another edition of the ‘CaliClásico’ on Saturday night and Javier Hernández scored his 17th goal of the season.

Javier ‘Chicharito’ Hernández has been in peak form this season for the Los Angeles Galaxy and he scored a brace on Saturday night in the 3-2 road win over the San Jose Earthquakes. The Mexico international has scored 17 goals and provided two assists in 30 appearances, 29 as a starter, with two games left of the regular season.

Chicharito had the last laugh

Prior to the ‘CaliClásico’ the San Jose Earthquakes fans unveiled a clown tifo to mock the LA Galaxy players and this didn’t go well with Javier Hernández. The Ultras also unveiled a banner that read ‘The LA circus, same clowns, different costumes,’ and this sparked Chicharito to have a dominant performance throughout the match.

The former Manchester United striker netted two goals and he celebrated by acting like a clown in front of the San Jose Earthquakes ultras each time. The Galaxy won the game for the much needed three points and they continue to make a late push to secure a spot in the MLS Cup playoffs this season.

Chicharito spoke after the game

The best way to answer. Sometimes people think that with those kinds of messages they are going to bring a team down, but on the contrary. So thanks to them because they gave me more reasons to win the game and walk away with the three points,” said the LA Galaxy captain after the game regarding his celebrations.

Los Angeles Galaxy are now sitting in fifth place with 46 points and they are looking to secure a top seven finish to qualify to the playoffs this season in the Western Conference. Next up for the Galaxy is a home game against Real Salt Lake (1 October), a direct rival in their fight to qualify for the playoffs, and they will end the regular season on the road against Houston Dynamo (9 October).
