Chofis López breaks Liga MX goal drought
Javier Eduardo López had not scored a goal in Mexican soccer since 2019, but his strike against Atlas ended that streak.
Javier Eduardo López returned to Liga MX and has already made his presence felt, as the player from Pachuca provided an assist on his debut with the Tuzos team and, now, he has scored a goal in Liga MX, which is the first after two years of not doing it in Mexican soccer.
After his time with Chivas, Chofis López went to the MLS to join the San José Earthquakes where he scored 13 goals and had six assists. Grupo Pachuca was in charge of repatriating the player by reaching an agreement with Chivas so that he would play in the Bella Airosa team.
López scored his goal against Atlas, in the early game of week 16, when he drove with the ball from midfield and took a powerful shot that pierced the opposition net. Bang! His first goal in two years in Mexico.
The last time he scored in our country was on 31 January 2020 when Chivas drew 2-2 against Atlético de San Luis on Matchday 4 of the Clausura 2020. This goal meant the fourth in his tally, added to an assist.
Javier Eduardo López, to give him his full name, has now broken the streak of not scoring in Liga MX with this goal against Atlas and, it should be noted, Pachuca visits Toluca at Nemesio Díez as part of the activity on Matchday 11 of this Opening 2022 where the Tuzos are fifth in the table and have mathematical chances of getting fully into the fight for a direct qualifying position to the league.
