Club América set their sights on Racing defender Piovi
Gonzalo Piovi is the player earmarked by the Club America sporting directors to reinforce their backline as the closure of the transfer window looms.

The Liga MX transfer window is nearing its end (closing on 13 September) and Club América are working flat out to secure the central defender they have been searching for. After sounding out several players, they have opted for Gonzalo Piovi, who currently plays for Racing Avellaneda.

According to information from transfer expert César Merlo, América has set its sights on Piovi and has already made a formal offer. The Aguilas have offered Racing 4.5 million dollars, a figure that is set to fall short of the Argentinean club’s demands for at least six million.
América would then have to launch a second bid as soon as possible, as the Liga MX transfer window closes on Wednesday 13 September. The Coapa based side are looking for Pioivi to adjust their defence that has suffered in recent times and has proved to be a headache for new coach Jardine.
