Colombia confirm US based friendlies against Venezuela and Mexico for December

Both games will be played outside an official FIFA date with the game against the ‘Vinotinto’ set to take place at the DRV PNK Stadium in Miami.

The Colombian FA have announced two friendly games for the month of December with Venezuela and Mexico set to provide opposition for the Cafeteros.

The game against the ‘Vinotinto’ will be staged at the home of Inter Miami with the DRV PNK Stadium opening its doors on Sunday, December 10 with the action getting underway at 6 p.m. ET/ 3 p.m. PT.

With neither game falling in the FIFA window, the tests offer coach Néstor Lorenzo to try local players from leagues that have terminated their domestic 2023 action with no European based players expected to be released.

The MLS club added that the priority to purchase tickets will fall to season ticket holders initially with the Herons press release adding: “Colombia will look to extend their unbeaten record at the DRV PNK Stadium, previously adding a 2-1 win against Honduras in January 2022 and defeating fellow South American Paraguay 2-0 in November 2022. same year”.

Mexico, the other December opponent

Six days later, the Colombian national team will travel to the West Coast of the United States to face Mexico on Saturday, 16 December at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum Stadium.

These will be the last matches of the year for the Tricolor with matchdays six and seven of the 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign resuming again in March of 2024.
