Kylian Mbappé injury latest: France star injures ankle against Morocco
The Frenchman scored his 20th World Cup goal in the quarter-final win but was taken off with a suspected ankle injury.

Kylian Mbappé was taken off during France’s 2-0 quarter-final win over Morocco on Thursday, sparking concern about a suspected ankle injury.
Mbappé opened the scoring for France in a hard-fought victory over the 2022 World Cup semi-finalists. He was taken off in the 77th minute after suffering an apparent ankle injury, with France already holding a two-goal lead.

After leaving the field Mbappé was seen on the France bench, with an ice pack strapped to his right ankle. He did not appear to be in any significant pain but France fans will be waiting anxiously for an update on his fitness.
France coach Didier Deschamps has not yet given any indication of the severity of the issue. However Mbappé was quick to join in with the France celebrations on the full-time whistle, dancing on the field with his teammates.
This is not the first time this tournament that Mbappé - who suffered with soft tissue injuries at points of the 2025/26 season with Real Madrid - has been taken off with the game already won. Mbappé has only played the full 90 minutes in two of France’s six games this summer.
