The three soccer players follow a strict diet to stay in the world elite, and their best-kept secret is algae, considered a superfood.

El alimento imprescindible en la dieta de Cristiano, Messi y Benzema

In the world of sport, many of the top stars choose to take great care of themselves physically, through a combination of the most demanding exercise routines and very strict diets. A measure they adopt to try to stay in shape for as long as possible, as well as perform better on the pitch, as in the case of footballers.

Probably the best example in the modern game is Cristiano Ronaldo, who has been working on his body for many years to stay among the world elite, and who also has a secret - an essential food in his diet, which is also part of the meals of two other great world stars: Leo Messi and Karim Benzema.

The secret benefits of algae

The three players stars at their respective clubs: United, Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid have chosen to introduce a new food into their diets - algae, which has given them unbeatable results. These naturally-grown seaweeds provide seven times more protein than meat, fish and vegetables. “They contain great nutritional value because with a small amount you get a lot of vegetable protein, which the body synthesizes even better than animal protein”, Alberto Mastromatteo told Informalia.

Curiously, Mastromatteo is the chef who prepares diets for soccer players, including Madrid’s French striker, Benzema, who has just enjoyed a dream season at 34 years of age. “I am a fervent believer in the extraordinary nutritional power of microalgae, unrivaled sources of omega 3 polyunsaturated fatty acids and other healthy lipids, vitamins, carotenoids, antioxidants, etc. For this reason, I usually put spirulina and chlorella in all my dishes”, he added.

Spirulina is known as blue gold, and is considered a superfood by the World Health Organization and the United Nations, and it has a protein content of one 70%, being also rich in vitamins (A, B1, B2, C, D, E and K), and minerals such as iron, magnesium and potassium. On the other hand, chlorella is a freshwater algae with 60% protein, which helps to slow down aging, purify the blood, prevent anemia and prevent inflammation.
