Cristiano Ronaldo staring at another barren season with Al Nassr

The Riyadh side are now 11 points behind the leaders Al Hilal & Al Ittihad and out of the Saudi Cup.

Fans of rival teams which Al Nassr face at away games greet Cristiano Ronaldo with chants of: “Messi, Messi, Messi...” The taunts have hit harder this season, as it appears, once again that the side from Riyadh will end the campaign empty handed after slipping up to Al Taawoun on Friday night as both sides shared a 1-1 draw.

The tie saw Al Nassr move to eleven both behind joint title contenders Al Hilal and Al Ittihad who share top billing on 40 points.

As things stand, it seems that the title race will be a two-team-contest between the men from Riyadh and side from Jeddah with Al Nassr as good as out of the equation after 15 games. For a third season running, conquering the Saudi League has become a pipe dream for the Portuguese striker.

One title avenue open for CR7

Knocked out of the Saudi King’s Cup in the round of 16 and with the league all but out of the question, Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al Nassr’s only hopes of winning a title this season are centred on the Asian Champions League. Things are not going badly for Stéfano Pioli’s men in the competition (called the AFC Champions Elite this season) so far with the team already through to the knockout stages in Group B with two rounds of games yet to play as Al Nassr lie in third place.
