Cruz Azul change the order in Mexico... and Chivas can’t ignore it

This Sunday, Cruz Azul were crowned champions at the Estadio Olímpico Universitario against Pumas, securing their 10th Liga MX star and moving ahead of Chivas in official titles.

How many titles does Cruz Azul have?

With this championship, Cruz Azul now have 27 official titles, leaving Chivas on 26 across all the competitions they have played.

Cruz Azul now have 10 Liga MX titles, four Copa MX trophies, seven Concacaf Champions Cups, three Campeón de Campeones titles, one Leagues Cup, one Supercopa de Liga MX and one Supercopa México.

The Sky Blue Machine are now, outright, the fourth-most successful team in Mexican soccer, reaching double digits in Liga MX titles.

Chivas, meanwhile, are the third-most successful team in Liga MX. They have 12 league titles, a record they share with Toluca’s Red Devils.

The Sacred Flock have four Copa MX championships, seven Campeón de Campeones titles and one Supercopa México. Chivas also have two Concacaf Champions Cup titles, a trophy they have not won since 2018, when they beat Toronto FC.

Mexico’s biggest winners

Cruz Azul and Chivas both have 26 titles in total in their trophy cabinets, although the gap between those two teams and the leader remains wide.

While those two clubs are closing in on 30 total titles, América have 41 championships in their cabinet, 15 trophies more than their closest pursuers.

Likewise, though the gap is not quite as large, Club León and Deportivo Toluca have 20 total championships, six fewer than Chivas and the Sky Blues.
