José de Jesús Corona and Julio César Domínguez have an uncertain future with Cruz Azul. Both the goalkeeper and central defender are believed to have been offered the chance to renew their contracts with certain conditions, but as of the moment, neither player has accepted.

According to reports published in Récord, the Mexican goalkeeper was offered an extension for one more tournament - the Apertura 2023, but the 42-year-old, a gold medal winner at the London 2012 Olympic Games, would like a contract of at least one more year, in other words, for the next two tournaments.

‘Cata’ Domínguez’s case

As for the defender, it is believed that he does have an option for another year on the table. But what has been stopping him from signing the contract is that his salary would have been reduced considerably. Unless Cruz Azul come back with a better offer, both players’ agents will starting listening to offers from other clubs.

Both veterans are expected to be present for the club’s pre-season, which will take place in Ixtapa Zihuatanejo and then resolve their future at the La Noria facilities. Querétaro have an interest in signing Corona following Gil Alcalá's departure the Pumas from UNAM.
