With the knockout stages almost upon us at the 2026 World Cup, the race for the Golden Boot is hotting up in North America, where a host of big names lead the charge.
As well as winning the ultimate prize in sport, there are a number of individual awards that are given out at the conclusion of the tournament. These include best player, best young player, and of course, most goals scored.
Since the inception of the World Cup in 1930, nobody has won the Golden Boot twice, yet that could soon change as Kylian Mbappé already has one on his shelf at home.
Erling Haaland and Lionel Messi - who currently tops the 2026 standings - are among those standing in his way.
