The club explained that the midfielder limped out of Sunday’s training session.
Barcelona midfielder Dani Olmo faces time on the sidelines after picking up a muscle injury in this morning’s training session at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper.
Tests revealed a strain to the player’s right calf muscle, which will keep him out of action for the next few days. Barça’s medical staff have not indicated how long Olmo will be out for but confirmed that he will sit out Tuesday’s Champions League clash with Benfica - the penultimate game of the group phase.
Olmo to undergo tests later this week
Olmo will be reassessed later this week. Barcelona’s next league game is against Valencia, at home next Sunday.
The Spain international was a substitute in Saturday’s league game against Getafe. He entered the field in the 62nd minute replacing Gavi and completed the match.
Hansi Flick’s men returned to training this morning to prepare for a busy week. Tomorrow morning the squad will fly to Lisbon for the Benfica game. The team will train at Estadio Da Luz stadium in the afternoon ahead of the coach’s press briefing.
