As each season follows one another, one thing we can normally rely on is a big story or scandal with Paris Saint-Germain in the middle of it. The protagonist in 2023 is Hakim Ziyech.

Why Chelsea’s Ziyech didn’t sign for PSG

The Parisian team had reached an agreement with Chelsea just one hour before the end of the winter transfer window, but the Premier League club, it is suggested, did not send the appropriate documents through on time. This means that, at least for the moment, the player has not made the move.

Reports in France state that PSG will present an appeal on Wednesday accusing Chelsea of misconduct over this and will aim to obtain an exception that allows the club to sign Ziyech despite the deadline being passed. As reported by France Bleu, the English club torpedoed the move by sending the wrong documents up to three times so that the Moroccan would not sign for the current leaders of Ligue 1.

Uncertainty until the very end is expected, although it won’t take long. PSG are confident that the tribunal will rule in its favour so that it can correctly register Ziyech. However, the club will have to argue, and present solid evidence, that shows that the non-signing of the still Chelsea player was caused by the Blues.

Wednesday, the day the club travels to Montpellier, will be decisive.
