Tigres have secured their third signing for the Clausura 2023. Diego Lainez is on the verge of officially completing his move to the Mexican club and sources close to the club tell AS Mexico that it will be a one-year loan deal with an obligation to buy on a three-year deal.

The Mexican will arrive in the Mexican capital on Friday afternoon or Saturday to undergo a medical and join Diego Cocca’s side. After a short and unsuccessful spell in Europe, the former América player will get another chance to shine at home.

Tigres have invested around €25 million in transfer in the winter window after the signings of Fernando Gorriarán and Nicolás Ibáñez, and they have put together a serious squad who are aiming to win Liga MX.

Diego Lainez’s numbers

  • With América: 51 games (5 goals and 3 assists)
  • With Real Betis: 72 games (4 goals and 6 assists)
  • With Sporting Braga: 13 games (2 goals and 2 assists)
