A new Liga MX champion was crowned after Pachuca lifted the Apertura 2022 trophy. Los Tuzos managed to win their seventh First Division title with multiple homegrown players in their squad. Now, the team from Hidalgo could soon see one of them leave for European football: Erick Sánchez. The 23-year-old midfielder assured that the board has not informed him whether or not he has a European transfer offer on the table. For now, his main aim is to get in the Mexican National Team squad for Qatar 2022.

After winning the Liga MX title, Erick Sánchez was asked about his future at Pachuca by Fox Sports. “I don’t know [about his future]. I asked my representative and the club if there was anything. They didn’t tell me before this game happened. Later, if I have to go to Europe, which is what we all want, then they’ll tell me. Inn the meantime we’ll keep calm. I couldn’t tell you [if it was his last game for Pachuca] because I don’t think I want to leave here, but it’s very exciting for us and we’ll have to wait and see what the board decides”.

On the other hand, he assured that, after celebrating, he will be teaming up with the Mexican National Team to look to be at the Qatar World Cup 2022. “Tomorrow we will be focused on the National Team to try to get onto the final list. Every player wants that, it’s very exciting for us to be on this list (…) We’re going to try to do everything we can and keep fighting to get a spot”, the Pachuca player said.

One more Tuzo looking to emigrate to Europe

Pachuca has a history of players who have made it to European teams. Players like Héctor Herrera, Hirving Lozano, Erick Gutiérrez Eugenio Pizzuto have managed to pass through the ranks of the Tuzos and take the leap across the water. In addition to Erick Sánchez, players such as Kevin Álvarez, Víctor Guzmán, Luis Chávez and Mauricio Isais could soon arouse the interest of a European team.
