Club América are looking to make a significant statement in the summer transfer market and have reportedly begun negotiations for a footballer who’s competing at the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.

This player is none other than Denis Bouanga, the Los Angeles FC forward who has a knack for scoring crucial goals against Las Águilas.

According to TUDN journalist Julio Ibáñez, América have formally inquired about the Gabonese striker, who has been a key figure for LAFC since 2022, playing a pivotal role in the Black and Gold’s recent trophy successes.

A proven performer in MLS

Bouanga’s appeal is no coincidence. The 29-year-old forward has made a name for himself in MLS with his power, ability to disrupt defenses, and clinical finishing.

One of the most influential players in Steve Cherundolo’s offensive lineup, his recent silverware with LAFC includes an MLS Cup (2022) and a Supporters’ Shield (2022).

Moreover, Bouanga played a crucial role in the play-in game that eliminated América from Club World Cup contention, scoring the winner as LAFC booked their place at the tournament in the U.S.

His performance did not go unnoticed by América’s management, led by the club’s sporting president Santiago Baños, who is now out to take the striker to the Estadio Azteca.

LAFC valuation a potential stumbling block

The main hurdle in finalizing the transfer would be the cost. According to Ibáñez, LAFC has valued Bouanga at no less than $12 million. Additionally, América is not the only Mexican club interested in the striker; other financially strong teams have also made contact with the player’s camp.

Currently, negotiations are not at an advanced stage, but América’s interest is genuine and firm.

The club is aware that the market can move quickly once the Club World Cup concludes. If they manage to secure the signing, Las Águilas would not only add a proven player but also send a clear message to the rest of Liga MX: they are determined to reclaim their throne in Mexican soccer.
