Gonzalo Higuaín continues to make his mark on Major League Soccer in his own style. The Argentine forward has had his ups and downs during his stay in the league, but when he’s on song, there is not much that can stop him - as we witnessed on Saturday night.

Inter Miami hosted Cincinnati in Week 23 of the 2022 MLS season. The match produced eight goals, ending in a 4-4 draw. Phil Neville’s team equalised in what turned out to be the final move of the match with Christopher McVey rifling the ball in off the bar six minutes into stoppage time. Had it not been for that late goal, Higuaín’s hat-trick would have been completely overshadowed.

The Argentine striker took just 27 minutes to score his hat-trick in what was an outstanding performance. All his goals fell in the first half - Pipita found the net on 23, 37 and 47+5 minutes - including a great free kick that took everyone in the area by surprise.

Inter Miami, three games in a row without winning

David Beckham’s team is not going through a good moment and that is reflected in the table - they are 11th in the Eastern Conference with 26 points and remain far from the top positions. They have gone three games in a row without a win - before the draw against Cincinnati, they accumulated defeats against Barcelona (0-6) and New York City FC (2-0).

Inter Miami will return to action in Major League Soccer on Wednesday when they visit the San José Earthquakes at PayPal Park.
