One of the greatest Club America players in recent time is on the move again with Guillermo Ochoa set to join Serie A side Salernitana.

The veteran keeper took to his Instagram account posting a heartfelt message aimed at America supporters as he bade his goodbye to the Coapa team with just 11 days remaining on his current deal with the Liga MX side.

Today it’s time to look for new horizons, new challenges, new adventures that will allow me to continue growing as a person and as a footballer. I am grateful for the support of the club and the board so that this is just a pause in our relationship. Today we simply had different visions of our future,” he said.

“My return was a dream that I always promised them and I will never forget the welcome I received from the moment I announced my return. The images of my arrival have a special place in my memory and in my heart. I enjoyed very much our reunion, every game at the Azteca Stadium and away from home, you were always there to support; every save celebrated by you, every goal of our team that we shouted together and of course, having the honour of being your captain on and off the pitch, where I always tried to make you feel represented as an Americanista deserves. I gave everything in every training session for you and for the club where I was born”.

The goalkeeper will now travel to Italy and arrive on Thursday to sign for Salernitana, with the Southern based side currently 15th place in Serie A. The veteran moves on a free transfer given that he is a free agent come 1 January, 2023. Prior to Ochoa’s farewell message, Club America themselves posted a message thanking the stopper for his services and for being a key part of the club’s 106 years of history.
