The demands of his first Clásico was too much for Ilkay Gündogan. The German quit the game injured in the 40th minute with obvious gestures of discomfort. Early indications suggest Gündogan may have done something to his right adductor. After playing the first half of the game against Arsenal in Los Angeles on Wednesday, the former Manchester City player fell injured in his second outing, played in Arlington. Pending the medical report, the United States tour is over for Gündogan, who won’t feature against AC Milan in Las Vegas on Tuesday. And, surely, also the Trofeo Gamper, against Tottenham, on Tuesday. He was replaced by Sergi Roberto.

Gündogan wasn’t the only Barça player to limp out of this evening’s Clásico. Andreas Christensen was taken off on 28 minutes after complaining of muscle pain and was replaced by Eric Garcia. Meanwhile, Gavi didn’t even make the squad list. The Andalusian continues with discomfort to his back. And already in the treatment room, Iñigo Martínez, who continues his rehabilitation after surgery on his right knee.
