Update:

“Anyone would want to play for Real Madrid,” Haaland said. After a career at the top, he knows what he’s talking about.

Maybe it will happen one day. Who wouldn’t want to play for Real Madrid?" he continued.

Of course, I’m talking about Alfie. Erling’s father. He was in East Rutherford watching Norway’s Round of 16 game at the 2026 World Cup against Brazil, when the reporter asked him about a potential move to the Spanish capital.

The Haaland rumours never quite die down, and they’ll never go away until one of two things happen: he retires or he signs for Real Madrid. Or Barcelona. But even then, there’d be room to speculate on whether he could be the Norwegian Figo.

Haaland’s insane goal-scoring record

The Leeds-born forward contract at Manchester City runs until 2034, and Alfie spoke about the player’s current feelings in England’s north-west, saying Erling was “very happy” and “waiting for the new season” at the club. There has been absolutely no suggestion that Haaland is looking to move away from City, even with Pep Guardiola’s departure, and his father’s comments seem to confirm that.

And he probably wants to keep up his Premier League scoring record. At the time of writing, he has played 132 games in the English top division, putting the ball in the net 112 times. For Norway, his numbers are even more terrifying: 60 goals in 54 games.

Oh, and then there are the two goals against Brazil in the World Cup to put his side into the quarter-finals. Add those to the monster’s list.
