He failed to shine at Club América, but he could be on his way to LaLiga
Nicolás Benedetti may not have impressed for América, but his form for Mazatlán has led to talk of a move to Spain.
After struggling to make an impact with Club América, Colombian midfielder Nicolás Benedetti found a new lease of life at Mazatlán FC, where he’s been one of the team’s standout performers in recent seasons.
Now, the South American playmaker may be on the verge of leaving the Liga MX for a long-awaited move to Europe.
Talks over LaLiga move
According to journalists Pepe Sierra and Juan Manuel Rodríguez, Spanish club Sevilla has inquired about Benedetti’s availability and the terms of his current contract with Mazatlán.
While nothing is finalized yet, negotiations are reportedly underway, and there’s optimism that a deal could be reached.
Benedetti’s Liga MX stats
Benedetti arrived in Mexico in 2019, signing with América after his stint with Deportivo Cali. During his time with Las Águilas, he made 185 official appearances, scoring six goals and providing three assists.
In 2022, he left América and joined Mazatlán, where he has since scored 13 goals. If the transfer goes through, it would mark Benedetti’s first experience playing in Europe.
