The issue is far from over. Late on Monday, the Mexican Football Federation’s Disciplinary Commission announced the sanctions stemming from the altercation during the Club América vs. Toluca match. Among those affected is Helinho, who responded by posting a video on social media denouncing racist abuse he says he received online following the incident.

The Toluca forward was handed a three-match suspension and fined for his actions last Saturday. Helinho’s challenge on Alan Cervantes drew a straight red card and sparked a brawl between the two sets of players, while the Brazilian also got physical with Alejandro Zendejas.
