Mario Edilberto Aguilar, an amateur player in the lower leagues in the municipality of El Negrito in Yoro, northern Honduras, is a huge fan of the new Inter Miami signing and decided to pay homage by naming his son ‘Lionel Messi’, according to local media outlet El Olomán Noticias.
Father Mario Edilberto, nicknamed ‘Calavera’, said that he hopes people will refer to his son, born on 5 April 2023 in the town of Morazan, as ‘Leo’, ‘Messi’ or ‘Calavera’.

Cristiano Ronaldo to follow Lionel Messi as a future Honduran star?
The report doesn’t reveal how much of say the boy’s mother, Katerin Yoeli Guevara, had in naming her child or how happy she was to go along with it, but the new parents will be well aware that Lionel Messi, whatever he chooses to do later in life, will attract plenty of attention one way or another.
Dressed in a Barcelona shirt, Mario Edilberto showed proof in the form of his son’s birth certificate dressed and revealed that if he goes on to have another boy, he will even things out by naming him ‘Cristiano Ronaldo’ in honour of the former Real Madrid superstar.
