How many times has Mexico won the CONCACAF Gold Cup? This is El Tri’s tournament record
The Mexicans are the most decorated team in the history of the Gold Cup, which is to be held in the U.S. this summer.

Often referred to as the ‘Giant of CONCACAF,’ Mexico has long been the dominant force in North and Central American men’s soccer. This is particularly true in the CONCACAF Gold Cup, a tournament in which the Mexicans are the most decorated nation.
Mexico well clear of rivals USMNT
Mexico leads the way with 12 Gold Cup trophies, followed by their fierce rivals, the United States, who have won the competition seven times.
Despite facing challenges on the field, Mexico has consistently proven its dominance in CONCACAF.
What years did Mexico win the Gold Cup?
Mexico’s first Gold Cup victory came in 1965. Since then, the team has added CONCACAF titles in 1971, 1977, 1993, 1996, 1998, 2003, 2009, 2011, 2015, 2019 and 2023.
In 2023, under the guidance of Jaime Lozano, who stepped in after Diego Cocca was dismissed, Mexico had an exceptional Gold Cup run, despite being eliminated in the Nations League semi-finals that same year.

Can Aguirre lead Mexicans to another triumph?
Now, with Javier Aguirre at the helm, Mexico has the chance to extend its lead in the region. However, Canada has emerged as a serious contender alongside the USMNT, complicating things for the Mexican team in recent years.
This CONCACAF tournament will also serve as preparation for the 2026 World Cup. As one of the host countries, Mexico does not have to go through qualification for FIFA’s global international tournament.

When is the 2025 CONCACAF Gold Cup?
Hosted by Canada and the United States, the 2025 Gold Cup is due to take place from June 14 to July 6. Houston’s NRG Stadium has been chosen as the venue for the final.
Mexico has been drawn in Group A, alongside Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic and Suriname. Their campaign kicks off on June 14, when they take on the Dominicans in the tournament’s opening game.
