How much prize money does England get for winning the 2025 Women’s European Championship?
England defeated Spain on penalties in the final of Euro 2025, which has seen a huge prize purse increase from the previous tournament three years ago.
For the second year in succession, England faced Spain in the final of a European Championship. Twelve months ago, the Spanish men overcame their English counterparts to win Euro 2024 in Germany. However, the tables were turned in Euro 2025 at St. Jakob-Park in Basel, Switzerland on Sunday (July 27), with The Lionesses winning in a penalty shootout.
Women’s soccer continues to grow significantly in Europe, as reflected by the huge increase in prize money from the previous edition of the European Championship, held in England in 2022, to the current tournament.
Total Euro 2025 prize purse
Before Euro 2025, UEFA revealed there would be a €41 million (just over $48 million) total prize purse for the competition, a whopping 156% increase compared to three years earlier.
Of that figure, each of the 16 participants was awarded €1.8 million ($2.11 million) just for taking part, which is almost identical to the prize on offer for emerging victorious in the final.
Euro 2025 final: the money on the line
Champions England will pocket €1.75 million ($2.05 million), exactly twice as much as the cash reward handed out to runner-up (€850,000, which is just under $1 million).
In winning a second successive European Championship, England will take home €5 million ($5.86 million), dropping €100,000 (approximately $120,000) from the maximum possible amount from the tournament as a result of their loss to France in the first of their group games,
