Update:

We’re very much in the home straight of the 25-26 LaLiga EA Sports campaign after most sides have played thirty-two of the 38 matchdays and, with just six games outstanding before the curtain comes down on the season, the table shows Barcelona leading by nine points over Real Madrid.

Both Flick’s and Arbeloa’s sides delivered slender wins in this midweek round of fixtures. The Catalans beat Celta Vigo at home and maintained their lead over Los Blancos who defeated Alavés at the Bernabéu to keep their title hopes alive by a thread. Even so, at this stage, Barça seem to have everything in their favour to retain the title.

Hansi Flick’s men could seal the title coincidentally against Real Madrid. If both teams win their next two matches, the Blaugranas could clinch the title in the Clásico on matchday 35, which takes place on 10 May. A historic 29th La Liga title for Barça with Real Madrid desperate to ensure that the race stays alive for as long as possible.

Two tough away fixtures for Barça

Barcelona face two extremely difficult away games before hosting Real Madrid. First, they travel to Getafe – an opponent who have historically given them a hard time on their own turf. Next, they face Osasuna at El Sadar, a ground where they lost last season. After El Clásico, they will travel to Alavés, host Real Betis and bring the season to a close at Mestalla against Valencia.

Madrid need Barça to slip-up

Time is running out for Real Madrid. They must win every game and hope for a slip-up from Barcelona. Their first ‘final’ will be away against Real Betis, followed by a trip to Espanyol. They side from the capital lost both those away games last season. After visiting Barcelona, they will play at home against Real Oviedo and travel to the Pizjuán to face Sevilla. Their final matchday (matchday 38) will be at the Bernabéu against Athletic Club.
