A new era has begun at Inter Miami. With their sights set on the weekend clash against the Colorado Rapids, the Fort Lauderdale side is already working under the guidance of their new coach, Guillermo Hoyos, following the departure of Javier Mascherano.

On Wednesday, Hoyos held his first press conference as Inter Miami’s new technical director, outlining his vision and sharing his initial thoughts on the responsibility he has taken on with the current Major League Soccer champions.

During the press conference, Hoyos expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to lead Inter Miami, a club he considers among the best in the world due to its rapid growth in recent years.

“Today, Inter Miami, I believe, and this is a personal opinion, is among the 10 best clubs in the world. Not just in MLS, it is a club with a very, very high ceiling,” said Guillermo Hoyos.

The Argentine coach also did not rule out the possibility that his interim role could become a permanent position over the course of the season. However, he stressed that he remains fully available to the club and its board for both medium and long-term decisions.

I am at the service of the club, which is why I am in this position today. A couple of days ago I was in a different situation, and I remain at their disposal for whatever they need. We are ready for anything, as they say,” he added.

Finally, the former Universidad de Chile, Oriente Petrolero and Atlas manager acknowledged the work carried out by Mascherano with the squad. He admitted he was unaware of the reasons behind the former Argentina international’s departure, but expressed his appreciation for his contribution to the team.

These are personal decisions, and you cannot interfere in them. I believe Masche gave a great deal here. He leaves as an MLS champion with a title, and there is a lot of respect for him and his coaching staff. These are not decisions I am involved in, but we are grateful for the lessons he has left us,” he concluded.
