Inter will play Manchester City or Real Madrid in the Champions League final in Istanbul next month.

Simone Inzaghi’s side beat rivals AC Milan over the two semi-final legs to book their place in a Champions League final for the first time since 2010, when they won the competition under José Mourinho.

Price of Inter team

Inter took on Milan with an average age of 28.9 and according to a report produced by Transfermarkt, their starting XI that took to the field at San Siro on Tuesday was signed by the club for just €114m.

Cheaper deals at San Siro

This staggeringly low figure of just over €100m for a full team can be attributed to the club signing young talents and older players joining on free transfers later in their careers.

Inter’s total expenditure over the past five seasons stands at €501m. Among Europe’s top clubs, the Serie A side rank 14th for money spent on transfer fees since 2017. Chelsea, in stark contrast, have spent €1.23 billion in the same period, with a large chunk of that coming in the previous two transfer windows.

Inter’s net spend

In the past five seasons, the Nerazzurri’s net spend on transfer fees stands at just €47m - slightly less than Premier League side Brighton’s spending in the same period of time.

Champions League final

Regardless of the price of his squad, Inzaghi will be hoping to cause an upset in the final on 10 June after overcoming Inter’s greatest rivals to reach this year’s showpiece event.
