Vinícius Júnior was the main absentee from Real Madrid’s derby defeat to Atlético Madrid even though manager Carlo Ancelotti had said on the eve of the LaLiga clash that the winger would be fit to return from a hamstring injury. Los Blancos are again in action on Wednesday at home to Las Palmas but, this time, there is some good news regarding the Brazilian.

Will Vinícius start against Las Palmas?

Vini is expected to be involved against the Canary Islanders after making a quick recovery from the stomach bug that thwarted his initial comeback attempt on the morning of the match against Atleti. The attacker trained with the rest of his teammates as normal on Tuesday morning, as if he had never been away. There are no signs of the injury still bothering him, which means he is set to feature in the matchday squad and could even start, although the most likely scenario is that he is named amongst the substitutes.

Carvajal and Güler doubts for Wednesday’s LaLiga clash

Right-back Dani Carvajal and Turkish youngster Arda Güler, who has yet to play for the club since joining in the summer, also took part in the session after recent fitness issues although it remains to be seen whether either will play on Wednesday. Carvajal was initially ruled out for 10 days but has recovered slightly faster than expected, although a lack of training could delay his first-team return. No risks are being taken with Güler, meanwhile, who has been sidelined since the summer. He is expected to make his debut for Los Blancos before the international break, although exactly when remains something of a mystery.

Thibaut Courtois and Eder Militão remain sidelined

With the exception of long-term injury victims Thibaut Courtois and Eder Militão, Ancelotti had a full first-team squad to work with on Tuesday morning. Ferland Mendy came off the bench against Atlético Madrid and appears to have come through his first competitive appearance in fourth months unscathed. The Frenchman could replace Fran García at left-back, either against Las Palmas or versus Girona on Saturday.
