One of the key figures of the Colombian national team has arrived, as James Rodríguez joined the team’s camp on Sunday night. The midfielder arrives in good form following a strong performance against Vasco da Gama. Tomorrow morning, he will undergo recovery activities at the hotel, followed by a practice session in the afternoon at the Colombian Football Federation.

James ready for Uruguay

The 32-year-old midfielder is one of the players who enjoys the confidence of Néstor Lorenzo. The current objective is to prepare diligently for the upcoming match against Uruguay and put behind the ghosts of the last 0-3 defeat at the Metropolitano, in which James Rodríguez was a starter.

James ready to help Colombia again

The Sao Paulo player understands his new role within the team. He is aware that the Argentine coach does not consider him part of the untouchables any longer, a message that was conveyed in the first two matches. James featured for 15 minutes against Venezuela and 32 minutes against Chile, where he played a pivotal role in revitalising the attack in the final quarter of the pitch.

The midfielder acknowledges that his experience is crucial for the younger players. Recently, he expressed from Brazil that he enjoys helping those who are starting their careers. Colombia boasts several young talents, with Jorge Carrascal being one of those expected to become the new driving force behind the team’s ideas.

“I am delighted and preparing myself well to assist the team. I am now older, at 32, an age where I can support my teammates on and off the field. I am mentally prepared to do just that. I want to aid all the young players,” he emphasised.

On Monday 9 October there will be a press conference in the morning, followed by an open training session in the afternoon. Lorenzo is beginning to assess his best options to face a strong Uruguay side at the Metropolitano Stadium on Thursday.
