Antoine Griezmann gave his opinion on João Félix’s spell at Atlético Madrid and the Portuguese forward has responded to his former teammate ahead of Sunday’s showdown between Barcelona and Atlético Madrid in LaLiga.

The French striker gave his reasons as to why Félix did not succeed at the club. “In the end, when you arrive here you know more or less what the coach is like, what the team is like, and either you adapt and work for it or things don’t work out for you. There were times when Joao did very well, he worked very well, but you have to be consistent and maybe there came a time when he got tired, he didn’t see himself here and that’s why he made the effort and the club also made the effort to give him a way out,” he said in an interview with Movistar.

João Félix has not wanted to keep quiet and in a chat with Movistar, has responded to Griezmann and defended himself. “I don’t agree, he has his opinion and I’m not going to comment on it. There are things I could have done better, both myself and everyone else. There are things that didn’t go well but it’s not just the fault of one person, but of several,” he explained.

Aiming to prove Simeone wrong

Félix had a good second half against Porto in the Champions League in midweek and his goal gave his side the victory and helped Barça advance to the last 16 of the Champions League. The Portuguese now wants to put in another convincing performance against Atlético this weekend and prove Diego Simeone wrong.
