Julián Quiñones keen to prove to Vasco Aguirre that he deserves a place at the World Cup
Quiñones, who has not been considered in the most recent call-ups by Javier Aguirre, assured that he ‘gives his all in every match to go to the World Cup’.

As the clock ticks down toward the final announcement of the players who will represent Mexico at this summer’s World Cup, the roster seems to be getting thinner by the day — injuries and inconsistent performances are taking their toll.
And in the middle of all that uncertainty, Julián Quiñones’ red‑hot form with Al‑Qadsiah has become impossible to ignore. Still, head coach Javier Aguirre hasn’t called him up.

Quiñones hasn’t played for Mexico since last October’s FIFA window, when he logged minutes against Colombia and Ecuador. Since then, he hasn’t received another call‑up.
But on Monday, in an exclusive interview with Fox, the player made it clear he wants to be there on June 11, when Mexico kicks off its World Cup campaign against South Africa at Estadio Banorte..

Quiñones put it simply: “I think every player dreams of starting a World Cup. For me, that moment means everything. That’s why I work day in and day out to make the final roster. That’s what matters most to me. I push myself in every training session, in every match, to earn a spot on that decisive list and represent Mexico the way I’ve always wanted. That, to me, is the most important thing.”
Since Quiñones arrived at the Saudi Arabian club, the Mexican striker has had the best performance of his career, scoring a total of 53 goals in 60 games played, in addition to contributing to another 10 goals for his team.
The striker has 18 games at international level with Mexico, where he has scored two goals and given two assists.
