Update:

England midfielder Keira Walsh was stretchered off in the first half of England’s Women’s World Cup match with Denmark on Friday.

Walsh left the pitch in tears with what looks to be a serious knee injury. With England leading 1-0 thanks to Lauren James’ opener after just six minutes, the Barcelona Femení player appeared to get her foot caught in the turf when lunging to intercept a pass, and she could now be set to miss the remainder of the tournament.

After leaving the field of play, Walsh, 26, was replaced by Laura Coombs.

England were already missing key players Fran Kirby, Leah Williamson and Beth Mead through injury, and now look set to be without their No.4.

Walsh is a key part of Sarina Wiegman’s England setup and will be a major loss for the Lionesses, particularly if they continue to progress Down Under and meet tougher opposition.
