Key star out for PSG in crucial Champions League clash
The Parisian side will go into the UCL game against their domestic rivals without a key midfielder.

Paris Saint Germain will have to travel to Monaco to play in their season-defining Champions League playoff round without the presence of a key cog in the Luis Enrique wheel: Fabián Ruíz.
The Spaniard will not be available for the game after a knee injury continues to keep him on the sidelines as PSG look to retain their European Cup.
Fabián’s season has been plagued by injury: the midfielder missed 5 games earlier in the campaign due to a muscle issue and as such has only played a total of 24 games across 6 competitions.

This current knee injury, which he suffered in January, has kept him out of 4 consecutive Ligue 1 games as well as the final league phase match of the Champions League, a 1-1 draw at home to Premier League side Newcastle United.
As a result of his bit-part presence in the side, his contributions when it comes to statistics has been drastically reduced: he has managed just two goals and three assists so far in the 2025/26 season. Last season Ruíz was almost an ever-present in the PSG side, featuring in over 60 matches in total, scoring 8 goals and getting 11 assists as PSG romped to an historic treble, including the previously elusive Champions League.
The two sides have met already this season: Monaco hosted PSG in the league, with the home side edging their way to a narrow victory thanks to a Takumi Minamino goal around the hour mark. On that occasion, Fabián started in the lineup, but was substituted with a few minutes to go for striker Gonçalo Ramos as Luis Enrique searched for a solution that did not appear.
Mayulu picked up a knock in last week’s game against Olympique de Marseille and is also expected to be sidelined for the game; Dembélé and João Neves are both set to feature.
